When in New York City, you would be remiss to not make a stop in Brooklyn to check out its artisanal, handcrafted and locally made, well, everything. Overlook the borough’s elitist reputation and wander into some of its delightfully hip bookstores, thrift shops, bodegas and boutiques, such as Twig Terrariums in Gowanus, which sells custom and DIY moss terrariums.

But if you want one spot with offerings that run the gamut from art prints to clothing and furniture, hit the Brooklyn Flea. Browse eclectic goods with a lobster roll from the Red Hook Lobster Pound truck and a strawberry-rhubarb ice pop from People’s Pops.

Brooklyn Flea sets up in Fort Greene, Williamsburg and now Queens. It also operates Smorgasburg, an artisanal food market, and Berg’n, a beer hall and food court.
