As we paddled onto shore, our muscles tired from battling the current while dodging water taxis and glass-bottomed boats, our guide came over and pulled our two-person kayak onto the beach.
“You guys need some water,” he said with a smile, and seemingly out of nowhere, he produced two ice-cold bottles of water for my kayaking partner and me.
It was the perfect touch after a few hours kayaking in the hot sun of Los Cabos and, considering we were nowhere near anyplace I could have bought my own water, it made me instantly grateful that someone else was handling all the details.
After a short rest — and more water and a snack — I was ready for snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez.
The outfitter I was with was Baja Outback — one of the best in Los Cabos. Besides kayaking and snorkeling, the company has a range of excursions for visitors, including hiking, surfing, fishing, camping and more. Our itinerary for the trip, however, was arranged by a destination management company called Terramar.
Many travel agents may not be familiar with Terramar, but if you send clients — especially groups of clients — to Baja, you should get to know this company. It is considered one of most professional destination management companies in all of Mexico.
The company describes its mission by saying it will, “always deliver our unparalleled service with limitless possibilities by creating innovative experiences that will fulfill your expectations … Through our years of experience and senior staff we anticipate, we promise and we deliver.”
And deliver it does. Whether your clients are looking for airport transfers or deep-sea fishing excursions, Terramar offers agents logistical support and a reliable extension of their reach in safeguarding their clients’ vacations.
The company is especially adept at handling groups, such as corporate and incentive groups, wedding parties, golf trips and more. Terramar even has special dedicated websites for arranging room gifts or for media and printing services. The company can also help agents plan special events and team-building exercises if necessary (ask them about the Guacamole Olympics). On our group trip, Terramar arranged everything from the kayaking/snorkeling outing to tee times at local golf courses to a shopping and dining excursion.
In everything it did, the company’s professionalism was second to none, and by the end of our stay, many in our group had stories of how Terramar went the extra mile to help make our visit the best it could be.
