Japan's fourth-largest city, Nagoya, located 70 mi/115 km east of Kyoto, was almost completely destroyed during the war, but today it's a bustling place.
Because of much assimilation during the 18th and 19th centuries and heavy bombing during World War II, many of the historical sites in Nagoya are reconstructions. Don't let that deter you, however, as the sites are still rich aspects of Japanese culture and worth exploring
