For the most enjoyable—and truly western—experience, a weeklong stay at a guest ranch is in order. Many of the dude ranches offer forays into Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and a chance to do cattle work, including branding, fixing fences and driving cattle. Folks who'd rather ease their way into ranch life can find a selection of ranches offering lots of riding instruction, day pack trips, fishing, hunting and sightseeing. Those who like their ranching sprinkled lightly on top will find ranch resorts with group activities, nature trails, hot tubs, tennis, cocktail lounges and riding. Some ranches are seasonal, and all are booked well in advance (and be aware that some guest ranches have a minimum or established length of stay, usually a week).< Show Less
