From April 6 to May 19 of this year, those who book a minimum of a one-night stay at a hotel in Los Angeles can take advantage of exclusive savings at more than 30 cultural institutions across the city through “Culture L.A.”
This program is now in its seventh year and offers deals such as buy one, get one free admission at participating museums and a 50 percent discount at certain museum shops. Although many of L.A.’s major institutions are participating, such as Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Getty Center and Los Angeles Zoo, the promotion also highlights some of the lesser-known sites.
Culture L.A. also includes special programming in conjunction with the initiative.
“All of our arts and culture organizations have a wide variety of special programs going on during this campaign to engage visitors of all ages,” said Michael McDowell, vice president of cultural tourism for the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.
McDowell added that the program ultimately aims to bring awareness to the diversity of L.A.’s cultural attractions.
“In working to promote cultural tourism to Los Angeles, we never have to answer the question, ‘Why visit Los Angeles?’” McDowell said. “We have to answer the question, ‘Why visit Los Angeles now?’ The more than $300 in savings on admission to L.A. museums and performing arts during this six-week campaign is one answer to that question.”
