The infamous “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” doors have been unlocked, and a hoard of “walkers” — infected, post-apocalyptic zombies — are streaming out into Universal Studios Hollywood. It sounds like a scene straight from AMC’s hit show “The Walking Dead,” but with the California theme park’s frightening new feature, clients can’t escape by simply by turning off the television. In fact, guests will come face to face with both live and animatronic walkers with the park’s permanent installation, which opened in July. “The Walking Dead” daytime attraction is located just inside the park’s main entry and features recognizable costuming paired with detailed set design and props from the show.
“‘The Walking Dead’ is a phenomenon that has successfully and consistently affected the psyche of viewers on a global basis since its debut,” said Larry Kurzweil, president of Universal Studios Hollywood. “We’re taking its authenticity to the next level by collaborating with the show’s award-winning production team to create a thrilling, living representation of the series that can only be experienced at Universal Studios Hollywood.”
Due to the nature of the attraction, it is recommended that guests be at least 13 years old to participate.
