The Details

AMResorts continues to strengthen its sustainability program by adding six new Rainforest Alliance-certified resorts for a total of 25 certified resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Newly certified resorts include Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa, Dreams Los Cabos Resort & Spa, Now Larimar Punta Cana and Now Garden Punta Cana. Resorts qualifying for certification must demonstrate their support for ecological issues, such as the use of natural resources, protection of nearby ecosystems and climate change mitigation. The resorts also participate in a variety of green initiatives, including beach cleanups, the limitation of excess water through recycling and protection of local wildlife.

“As travel industry leaders, AMResorts places a high priority on maintaining sustainable practices across all of our resorts,” said Gonzalo del Peon, president of AMResorts. “We are committed to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience while also minimizing our environmental impact within the resort destinations.”
