Contiki Vacations

Contiki Vacations, a tour operator marketed to millennial travelers between the ages of 18 and 35, has unveiled a new “Freedom Guarantee” policy that allows ticketed customers to change their bookings or transfer a deposit without facing a penalty.

Why It Matters:
Planning a vacation can be stressful, but clients who have confirmed bookings with the tour operator will now have an easy way to change the details of their trip without a change fee. Additionally, a “FlexDeposit” option allows travelers to postpone their vacation by granting them a Contiki credit — good for use before the clients’ 36th birthday. Not only does this show that Contiki understands the millennial market’s need for flexibility, but the new policy is attractive to agents, too, who will be able to bypass all the hassles of changing a client’s itinerary on short notice.

Fast Facts:
- Normal cancellation fees will apply on trips changed within 45 days of departure.

- Travelers who fail to use their Contiki credit before their 36th birthday may use the credit at one of Contiki’s sister brands.

- Travelers can also choose to gift their Contiki credit to a friend, who then must make a booking within five years.

What They Are Saying:
“These two new initiatives that make up our Freedom Guarantee represent Contiki’s innate understanding of what’s important to the millennial traveler,” said Casper Urhammer, CEO of Contiki. “When you’re living for the moment, things can change in the blink of an eye and that includes travel plans. When it comes to booking travel, at Contiki we believe that a more non-committal approach to trip changes and deposits will resonate strongly with our travelers and deliver on a millennial expectation for more flexibility.”
