American Airlines and Jamaica Tourist Board have announced that travelers on the West Coast will be able to fly direct from Los Angeles to Montego Bay, Jamaica, beginning in December. Tickets are currently on sale.
Why It Matters:
Jamaica is a noteworthy market for the Western U.S., yet a lack of convenient, nonstop access to this popular Caribbean destination has been a stumbling block. This new flight will shorten travel times and open the island to a larger market of travelers. The flights, offered weekly, will have the capacity to carry 160 travelers per flight.
- Flights to Montego Bay are set to begin Dec. 18
- Each Boeing 737 flight will have 16 first-class tickets available and 144 economy seats
- Planes will depart LAX at 10:59 p.m., arriving at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay at 7:40 a.m. the next day.
- Flights will depart Sangster International Airport at 10:00 a.m., arriving at LAX at 1:21 p.m.
What They Are Saying:
“As the premier carrier to the Caribbean, these new flights highlight our commitment to providing our customers with a network that is second to none,” said Art Torno, American’s senior vice president, International and Cargo. “We are committed to Jamaica and this new route will further promote travel and tourism to the country.”
