What is your opinion of Disney's decision to prevent agents
from using the Disney Specialist title on marketing and promotion
materials, including business cards?
Judy Butterly, Precision Travel, Dallas
If I complete a certification course for the education and the
promise that I have a designation that sets me apart from the
majority of agents who choose not to participate, and if that
supplier says I do not have the right to advertise my specialty,
why would I bother to even take the course?
George Delanoy, Brea Travel, Brea, Calif.
Disney has always been very sensitive about the use of its
icons, figures or name outside of the organization. The issue is
whether Disney had promised or implied that such use would be
approved with the Disney specialist award. I doubt it.
Susan Pisani, Cruisin Easy, Santa Maria,
This Disney dispute really seems to be all about semantics. If
Disney wants folks to do their College of Knowledge, then the
graduates should be able to say they are specialists. If not
specialists, then what? If they take the time to learn more about
the product than the average Joe, they should be able to display
this knowledge. If this knowledge is producing more sales and
revenue for Disney, whats their beef?
How will a war with Iraq affect your business?
John Bloom, World Wide Travel, Kennewick,
Our agency is leisure-travel-oriented, where travel is
definitely optional, so it will certainly adversely impact our
business. The news is filled with stories about al Qaeda cells and
Muslim extremists who think that harming Americans will get them
tickets to paradise. Add to that a war with an Islamic nation and
more people will elect to remain home, where they feel safe.
Teri Young, DreamCatcher, Sacramento
If the war is contained in the Iraqi area not on U.S. soil it
will have zero effect. The Gulf War and the more recent attacks on
Afghanistan proved that point.
