The Details

Rather than paying outrageous parking fees at the airport, vacationing Angelenos will now be able to park their cars for free while they’re away — and accumulate some moolah while they’re at it.

French company TravelCar, which was founded in 2012, is making its U.S. debut this month at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The service allows car owners to park at LAX for no charge while they travel and rack up dollars for every mile driven by the visiting “renters” who use the vehicles. Renters also benefit from this ride-share service — TravelCar rentals cost up to 70 percent less than a traditional rental, and all cars in the fleet are under 10 years old.

The best part? All rentals and parking are commissionable for agents.
