Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the December opening of its newest property, Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, located just north of Playa del Carmen. With 214 guestrooms, the resort will be situated on 590 acres, with access to preserved mangroves, lagoons and oceanfront views. It will offer a natural and sustainable design, extending Mayakoba’s reputation as an eco-friendly destination. Costa Rican architect Ronald Zurcher has created the property’s organic aesthetic, drawing from elements of wilderness when constructing the sculptural lobby and Maya-inspired rooms. Each guestroom will offer a balcony or terrace, and all 41 luxury suites will feature a private plunge pool. Guests can experience locally inspired cuisines at any of the resort’s four restaurants; each has a unique concept, ranging from market-to-table seafood and Yucatan specialties to Latin American cuisine. For those seeking relaxation, the Naum Spa will house six treatment rooms with a variety of services, some of which will borrow from indigenous Maya methods. Families can lounge at the beachside pool or private beach.
