After a rigorous certification process, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts recently became the first hotel chain to have corporate-managed restaurants awarded Certified Green Restaurant status by the Green Restaurant Association. The certification process analyzed the sustainability of all 26 of the brand’s eateries in the U.S. and Canada, paying close attention to energy use, waste and water efficiency. Steps taken to lessen environmental impact include composting, recycling and using superefficient spray valves that save water during cleaning. Diners can learn more about specific restaurants’ sustainability efforts by visiting the Green Restaurant Association website.
