What do you get when you combine cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) technology with roller-coaster thrills? You get The Great Lego Race, a new attraction opened last month at Legoland Florida Resort.
Riders experience a unique race against their favorite Lego mini-figures. In addition to being the first VR roller coaster designed specifically for kids, The Great Lego Race is also the first Legoland attraction to integrate Lego mini-figures with VR technology (using optional VR headsets), allowing guests to experience the action from all sides as they take part in a contest against popular Lego mini-characters, including Trendsetter, Pharaoh, Surfer Girl, Wizard and Pirate Captain.
“The Great Lego Race was inspired by the way kids play with Lego toys at home,” said Candy Holland, senior creative director for Merlin Magic Making, which develops attractions for Legoland and other parks around the world. “It’s a unique Lego adventure that lets kids enter an epic imaginary world made entirely from Lego bricks, featuring different themes and fun Lego characters.”
