What:
The Mark Travel Corporation has acquired tour operator Exclusive Group Travel (EGT), which specializes in FIT and group travel. As of April 1, the EGT brand now operates as part of Funjet Vacations. Mark Travel says it will also gain additional expertise and resources in call center and groups support, which will operate out of EGT’s New York office. Mark Travel’s other existing brands include United Vacations, Southwest Vacations and Blue Sky Tours.

Why It Matters:
Both Mark Travel and EGT are very supportive of travel agents, so this merging of resources should be a positive development for agents. The move will combine the industry expertise of both companies and provide travel advisors with another quality option for their clients, especially when booking groups.

Fast Facts:
- EGT worked exclusively with travel agents.

- Mark Travel is a 40-year-old family-owned business with service to more than 1,100 destinations worldwide.

What They Are Saying:
“The Mark Travel Corporation’s acquisition of Exclusive Group Travel will provide an immediate increase in product offerings, tools and resources to the EGT travel agent community,” said Steve Gorga, president of EGT. “Mark Travel is the perfect home for EGT and I am confident travel agents who support EGT will receive the same excellent service and support from its new owners.”
