The party continues at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which is in the midst of a yearlong 50th anniversary celebration.
From July 21 to 26, the Kohala Coast gem is marking a half-century of hospitality with special events such as a luau, an art tour, a clambake, a retro movie night and a gala dinner with fireworks and entertainment by jazz band Hiroshima.
Through Dec. 19, VIP travelers can celebrate the anniversary in style by booking the hotel’s Golden 50th package for $50,000. The deluxe offer comes with first-class airfare from the U.S. mainland, helicopter transfers between Kona International Airport and the hotel and fully stocked suite accommodations for five nights.
Among the package’s many luxuries is a private stargazing session at Keck Observatory atop Mauna Kea volcano; a customized helicopter tour of Volcanoes National Park; carte blanche dining; and a private farm tour and farm-to-table dinner.
