Royal Caribbean International has announced a new aquatic adventure park for children onboard Harmony of the Seas. The park, Splashaway Bay, will feature “Ultimate Abyss,” a slide boasting a 100-foot plunge; a trio of waterslides called “The Perfect Storm”; and a network of water cannons, winding slides, a jungle gym and a drench bucket. The ship is set to debut in May 2016 and can carry up to 5,497 passengers.
Until then, families can cruise with Shrek and Princess Fiona of the “Shrek” franchise, Po from “Kung Fu Panda” and the penguins of “Madagascar,” among other DreamWorks characters, onboard Anthem of the Seas this fall. With the DreamWorks Experience, cruisers can participate in activities including a character breakfast, meet-and-greet encounters and viewings of the latest DreamWorks Animation films in the ship’s main theater or on television in their stateroom. The experience is available on voyages that depart from Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, N.J., beginning in November.
