What:
The American Society of Travel Agents' Southern California Chapter (SoCal ASTA) and The Travel Institute have partnered to offer full scholarships to active members looking to earn their Certified Travel Associate (CTA), Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) and Certified Travel Industry Executive (CTIE) designation from The Travel Institute. Agents can save as much as $550 depending on which program they choose.

Why It Matters:
Both The Travel Institute and SoCal ASTA are demonstrating their investment in agent education, as well as helping to reduce the barrier to entry for new agents. SoCal ASTA members who meet the scholarship requirements have no excuse not to further their career and would be wise to take advantage of the savings.

Fast Facts:
- Scholarship requirements for the three certification programs include: being an active SoCal ASTA member; completing and submitting the application by April 30, 2017; attend at least one SoCal ASTA event and/or volunteering each year; providing one supplier reference on the application form; providing an agency owner, manager or host reference on the application form; completing studies within nine months from date of approval; and returning tuition to SoCal ASTA if certification is not completed.

- Scholarship applications are available at: www.thetravelinstitute.formstack.com/forms/astasocal.

What They Are Saying:
"We encourage all ASTA members to earn their credentials, set themselves apart and simply make an investment of time because SoCal ASTA is offering you the dollars," said Tama Holve, chapter president of SoCal ASTA and branch manager at Willett Travel, a Frosch Company.
