The Greening of Lanai

Two new programs from Four Seasons Resorts Lanai are encouraging clients to give back to their vacation destination

Two new programs from Four Seasons Resorts Lanai are encouraging clients to give back to their vacation destination. At the Manele Bay Hotel, an initiative called Growing Keiki invites kids and their parents to plant taro in the hotel’s Hawaiian Garden. Guests can visit their taro plant on future visits. Similarly, Four Seasons’ Giving Tree Malama Aina (caring for the land) program contributes to the reforestation of the island’s Koloiki Ridge. During a five-mile guided hike from the Lodge at Koele, a kupuna (Hawaiian ancestor) shares cultural insights about the land, history and indigenous species. Once they reach the summit, participants plant a native seedling for a greener tomorrow. www.fourseasons.com/lanai
