This Labor Day, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Las Vegas are going to be some of the busiest U.S. destinations celebrating — or bemoaning — the final days of summer. These cities, along with several others, were among the most booked Labor Day destinations for both American Express Travel and Priceline.com.
American Express Travel’s top 10 domestic destinations include (in order): New York; San Francisco; Los Angeles; Orlando, Fla.; Kahului, Hawaii; Denver; Honolulu; Boston; Chicago; and Las Vegas. According to American Express, destinations that underwent the biggest increase in bookings were Miami; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Washington; San Francisco; and Chicago.
The top 10 most booked destinations for Priceline.com were (in order): Las Vegas; Chicago; Atlanta; San Diego; New York City; Seattle; San Francisco; Orange County, Calif.; Orlando, Fla.; and St. Louis.
According to Priceline, the biggest mover was St. Louis, which rose by 29 spots from 39th last year to 10th this year. All of the top five in 2013 remained in the top five for 2014, with the exception of Orange County. Los Angeles and Denver — both of which appeared on American Express’ top 10 list — came in as Priceline.com’s 14th and 15th most booked destinations, respectively.
