The Venice kayaking tour from Tofino Expeditions takes visitors on an eight-day exploration of the famous Italian city. The tour begins in the Venice canals and paddles on to the islands located in the 212-square-mile Venice Laguna.

Historically, the outlying islands have been used to grow crops, defend the city from invaders, provide respite for the city’s elites and isolate dangerous activities such as gunpowder manufacturing. This tour provides travelers with a rich understanding of the islands’ role in Venice’s history. Tour activities include learning to paddle a gondola at a rowing club on the Veneto, a private glass blowing lesson on Murano and kayaking to islands containing such attractions as an isolated 13th-century monastery and a port dating back to the Roman Empire.

Like all Tofino Expeditions packages, the tour also focuses on cuisine as way of experiencing the local culture, offering guests fresh seafood, a variety of vegetable dishes and other Italian favorites. After days of kayaking and dining in local restaurants, guests will stay at small, carefully selected boutique hotels. Tours are scheduled for June 1-8, Sep. 14-21 and Sep. 28 – Oct. 5 next year, at $4,495 per person. Some of these dates can be combined with Tofino Expeditions’ Cinque Terre and Sardinia kayaking tours as well.
