The North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) recently announced that TravelAge West Senior Editor Deanna Ting won First Place (Gold) in its 2010 annual awards competition in the Travel Trade Article category for her Aug. 16, 2010, cover story, “The Rules of Attraction
.” The article outlines different steps that travel agents can take to attract new clients and business.
“I feel honored to have won this writing award from NATJA,” said Ting. “In the process of researching and writing this piece, I interviewed a number of experts, from travel agents to tour operators — all of whom shared a great deal of real-world knowledge and expertise with me. My sincere hope is that this article has helped travel agents to attract new clientele and to generate new business.”
The annual NATJA awards competition, now in its 19th year, honors the “best of the best” in travel writing, photography and promotion that cover all aspects of the travel industry worldwide. NATJA Awards recognize excellence in travel writing, photojournalism, social media, multimedia platforms, advertising, marketing and public relations for the travel and tourism industry. NATJA received more than 500 submissions.
“We are extremely pleased with this year’s entries; they were outstanding, both in quality of work and range of coverage,” said Helen Hernandez, CEO of NATJA. “The number of entries is the largest we have ever received and the level of creativity and professionalism is reflective of the vibrancy of the travel journalists’ community.
