American Airlines is now the first U.S. airline to offer daily nonstop service between Los Angeles and Shanghai. The new service is part of a series of recent and upcoming flights between the U.S. and other global destinations offered by American Airlines and its affiliates.
Daily nonstop service to Shanghai will be operated on a Boeing 777 with 247 seats (16 in First Class, 37 in Business Class and 194 in Economy Class). Premium-class amenities include Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones, select entrees inspired by celebrity chef Sam Choy and jasmine tea served in specially designed tea cups.
Shanghai, known for rapid cultural change, is one of the most important cultural, commercial and financial centers in China.
“American’s flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai will not only benefit the people of our two countries, but also pay a positive role in enhancing the friendship of our two peoples and promoting the economic and tourism cooperation between our two nations,” said China’s consul general, Qiu Shaofang.
On top of the new Shanghai service, American has launched nine new domestic routes from LAX, representing a 28 percent increase in the airline’s service. Los Angeles is one of American’s five cornerstone markets.
