Destination DC, the official tourism and marketing office for the nation's capital, has announced a special promotion exclusively for travel professionals. As a way to thank all those employed by the travel industry for making Washington, DC a top US destination, Destination DC has partnered with 17 hotels to offer special rates during the month of August 2013. Additionally Washington, DC VIP discounts will be offered at more than 40 participating attractions, live theaters, restaurants, retailers and tour companies.

“Travel Professionals Month is a great way to reward the hard-working industry who helps us promote Washington, DC,” said Elliott L. Ferguson, president and CEO of Destination DC. “Whether it's bicycling under the sun on the National Mall, taking in a Washington Nationals baseball game at Nationals Park, checking out one of several summertime festivals or experiencing once-in-a-lifetime events such as the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, there's no better time to visit.”

“Over the past year, we've seen a 4.2 percent increase in tourism to Washington, DC,” said Theresa Belpulsi, vice president of tourism for Destination DC. “This wouldn't have been possible without our important travel industry partners. Travel Professionals Month is just one way to thank them for all they do for us. Their efforts do not go unnoticed.”
