The history of Nicaragua comes to life on this five-day itinerary, which takes travel advisors to the cities of Managua, Leon and Granada. Agents will first fly into Managua, which is situated on the shores of Lake Xolotlan. They’ll go sightseeing in the city’s historic center, visiting places that include the National Palace and the ruins of the Cathedral of Santiago (also known as the Old Cathedral of Managua). Other highlights include visiting the colonial city of Leon, where travelers will tour the Cathedral of Leon, known as the revered palatial resting site of noted Nicaraguans, such as poets Ruben Dario and Salomon de la Selva. On the way to Granada, the trip will make a stop in Masaya Volcano National Park, where advisors can go near the edge of an active crater. A boat tour of Granada’s islands rounds out the end of the trip. The rate includes transfers, accommodations, sightseeing, tours and a travel insurance protection plan.
