The tour will begin in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital city, where travelers will explore several historical monuments and view a traditional Nestinari fire dance performance at a local restaurant. Then, advisors will visit a 14th-century monastery in the Rila Mountains; taste “banitsa” (a cheesy pastry) in Dobarsko; and visit the ancient Roman theater in Plovdiv. Other highlights in Bulgaria include stops at Kazanlak and Arbanasi. Then, agents will travel to Romania, where they will take a walking tour of Bucharest and visit its Arch of Triumph and Unification Square. Guests will then move on to Transylvania and its rural villages, where they will ride a steam train and stop at various farms to sample agricultural wares. The rate includes accommodations, most meals, select excursions, ground transportation, transfers, sightseeing, entrance fees and guided services.
