Adventure Caravans will offer an 11-day winter showcase tour of Alaska in February 2011. Among the many planned activities, guests will attend the world-renowned Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Anchorage and spend time with four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser at the Happy Trails Kennel.

Other highlights of the winter tour include a visit to the Alaska Sea Life Center, the western hemisphere’s only cold-water research facility; a visit to Alaska’s Wildlife Conservation Center; a behind-the-scenes tour of the Alaska Zoo; a viewing of Alaska’s famous Northern Lights; the Chena Hot Springs’ Winter Carnival; and a visit to the Ice Sculpture Park, where the Ice Alaska organization’s 2010 multi-block sculpting competition entries are on display for viewing.

Clients will also spend an afternoon at the state’s Native Heritage Center, where artisans invite visitors to learn about native mores and create traditional, handmade art.

“It’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Alaska has to offer the senses of those fortunate enough to experience her beauty,” said Tina Poole, general manager of Adventure Caravans.
