Hockey fans are gearing up for the fall season’s coolest sport, and the city of Anchorage, Alaska, will be hosting the Kendall Hockey Classic, a premier preseason college hockey tournament for four of the top Division I college teams. Contenders include the St. Cloud State Huskies and the Clarkson Golden Knights along with their opponents, the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks. It will be Clarkson’s 90th season of hockey but the team’s first-ever trip to Alaska.
During the weekend of the tournament, visitors, locals and hockey fans alike will find that there is plenty to see and do in Anchorage. The Oxygen and Octane Expo, taking place from Oct. 7-9, will be showcasing a full range of winter activities from skiing to snowboarding. The streets will also be bustling with art during the city’s First Friday Art Walk along with a special performance of “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical,” a fully improvised musical comedy straight from New York.
