This year, the Juneau Convention & Visitors Bureau (JCVB) was awarded with the Web Marketing Association’s (MWA) 2009 Outstanding Web site title. Since 1997, the WMA’s annual competition has been a great source of promotion and interactivity for professionals and now, after 13 years, it has become the premier award event for developers and marketers. In this year’s competition, JCVB’s site rose up against over 2,000 other sites from 45 countries, each judged across 96 industry-related categories.
The JCVB’s Web site gained a nearly perfect overall score in the travel category, with high scores in content, copywriting, ease of use, technology, interactivity, design and innovation. With a score of 67 out of 70 total possible points, the JCVB site far outscored its competition.
“The Internet is a crucial planning resource for today’s travelers and we wanted our new site to be visually compelling as well as useful to many different user groups. The new site is designed to showcase Juneau as an exceptional visitor destination, and we are delighted that the WMA recognized our efforts,” said Lorene Palmer, president and CEO of the JCVB.
