Some of Juneau’s finest voices have been handpicked to compete in a musical throw down to see who will be crowned Juneau’s Diva of the Year. On Sept. 10, diva competitors will perform two songs at the event, backed by Juneau musicians Michael Maas on piano and guitar, Simon Taylor on bass and Dale McFarlin on percussion. Contestants have been allowed to choose their own music selections from rock to jazz. Complementing this event will be hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar featuring Alaskan Brewing Company beer.
Audience members are encouraged to vote for their favorite singer. Votes will be in the form of monetary contributions, and divas are already fundraising for their chance at the crown. All proceeds benefit Juneau Lyric Opera.
