Sea Kayak Adventures, Inc. recently launched cruise vacations aboard its 65-foot charter motor yacht — the Ursa Major — out of Sitka, Alaska. Although, the cruising portion of the vacation lasts only about three to four hours a day, clients have plenty of time to go kayaking, fishing, crabbing and sightseeing during each tour. Designed for beginner kayakers and wildlife enthusiasts, the seven-day cruises also offer clients a chance to view whales, bears, eagles, otters and glaciers.
Ursa Major is equipped with three staterooms, including one private and two public bathrooms; a three-man crew composed of a captain, professional guide and chef; and a number of kayaks. The ship also boasts an expansive foredeck and upper sun deck with a unique design to allow for panoramic views and comfortable sailing regardless of the weather conditions.
Each seven-day cruise includes all kayaking equipment; top-of-the-line navigational and safety gear; a naturalist guide; meals and beverages; fishing tackle and more.
Custom-tailored itineraries are available for any group interested in activities such as kayaking, whale and bird watching, photography and visiting remote islands. Whole boat charters or individual bookings are available for weekly departures. Rates range from $3,000-$4,000 per person.
