Tacos are the main draw at the third annual Arizona Taco Festival in Scottsdale, Ariz., held on Oct. 20-21. More than 50 teams will submit their taco creations in a competition judged by the National Taco Association judges. Guests will be able to sample the handheld eats at $2 each. But tacos are just part of the fun — the event includes the return of lucha libre wrestling, the Tequila Expo, live surf music and cooking demonstrations. New for this year, besides the addition of a second day, are a mariachi contest, a bartending challenge, a Chihuahua Beauty Pageant and more.
Also new for this year is the location: the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, a 10-acre space. Ticket prices are $12 for single-day general admission; $20 for a weekend pass, $100 for a single-day VIP pass; and $20 for the Tequila Expo. Children ages 12 and under are free. Parking is free, and half-price discounts are given to those donning a sombrero.
