With its first snows of the season, Colorado is gearing up for the holidays with a variety of celebratory events for visitors and locals alike.

Those in Denver can enjoy the city’s Mile High Holidays, with festive lights, hotel deals, parades and special events throughout the city, including Denver Botanic Gardens’ Blossoms of Light, the Denver Zoo’s Zoo Lights, 9News Parade of Lights and much more. The 51st Annual Georgetown Christmas Market will treat guests to an old-time Christmas ambience, with hot roasted chestnuts, horse-drawn wagon rides, high tea and other traditions.

During Vail Snow Daze, the city pays homage to great music with a winter festival featuring a weeklong series of high-profile concerts and special guests, including Jakob Dylan, Yukon Kornelius and Guster.

For kids, the historic Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will bring The Polar Express to life. Pajama-clad children will enjoy hot chocolate on the train while listening to the classic Christmas book on their way to visit Santa.

At Rock on Ice at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, kids can have their names carved into an ice block at the event, which will feature world-champion ice carvers creating ice sculptures during the day and performing an ice sculpting show at night. Many other opportunities for holiday celebrations await throughout Colorado during this festive season.
