Thanks to a unanimous vote by The City of Carlsbad Planning Commission in California, Legoland California Resort was recently given permission to build a new hotel on resort property.
Pending approval by the Carlsbad City Council and the California Coastal Commission, plans for the new hotel will soon be finalized and construction will begin. The new Legoland Hotel will be situated to the right of the Legoland California entrance, taking over the space presently used for bus parking.
The Legoland Hotel will be modeled after Denmark’s Hotel Legoland, a kid-friendly hotel located in Billund, Denmark’s Legoland resort. The new Legoland Hotel in Legoland California will be designed to delight and inspire the imaginations of its young guests. Rooms will feature Lego bed linens, as well as suites that feature castles and dragons built entirely out of Lego blocks. Designs for the hotel feature a three-story structure capable of housing as many as 250 rooms.
For young children, the hotel will offer a number of opportunities for fun abound, including an endless supply of Lego blocks, building competitions and treasure hunts and family-friendly activities throughout their stay.
Peter Ronchetti, the new general manager of Legoland California Resort, has not yet released the expected date of completion for the Legoland Hotel. Currently, the Legoland California Resort already features two other hotels on its property: the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa and the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. Each family-oriented resort is within walking distance of the entrances to both Legoland California and the Sea Life Aquarium.
