Of course, Palm Springs, Calif., is known for its sunshine, but those that want to win, will have snow on their minds. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Annual Snow Guessing contest will begin Oct. 1 and continue until the first measurable inch of snow falls at Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 feet).

The first 10 guesses received with the correct date of snowfall will win four admissions and a Palm Springs Aerial Tramway picture frame. In the event there are more than 10 guesses, the earliest postmarks will prevail.

Anyone wishing to enter the contest can write down their guess on a postcard and mail it to: Snow Guessing Contest, One Tramway Road, Palm Springs, CA 92262. Postcards only will be accepted. People may enter as many times as they would like, one date per postcard. Postcards postmarked before Oct. 1 will not be accepted.

Roundtrip tram admission is $22.95 for adults and $15.95 for children ages 3-12. Discounted Twilight Tickets are available for purchase from 3 p.m.; Twilight Tickets are $19.95 for adults and seniors and $12.95 for children ages 3-12. The summer Ride ‘n’ Dine special price of $29.95 adults and $19.95 children ages 3-12 has been extended through October. Tickets are available from 3 p.m. and include tram admission and dinner at Pines Cafe, a cafeteria-style restaurant.
