The Outside Land Music & Arts Festival is returning this year to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from Aug. 28-30. More than 50 artists and groups will be participating in the festival, including famous musical groups such as Pearl Jam, the Dave Matthews Band, Incubus, Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A, Thievery Corporation and Jason Mraz.
The name for the festival comes from the fact that in the mid-1800s, the area that now houses Golden Gate Park was for the most part barren and uninhabitable, thus known as the ‘Outside Lands” — widely contrasted with the lively area that exists today.
Attendees of the festival can get a taste of Bay Area life not only by visiting the famous Golden Gate Park, but through food sampling, wine tasting, stand-up comedy performances at the historical Barbary Coast district and the chance to see underground art displayed at the Outside Lands site.
Tickets range from $89.50 for a one-day regular admission ticket to $595 for a three-day VIP pass.
