Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is set to open a new terminal on Oct. 6. The redesigned addition will be over three times the previous size and will offer free wireless Internet, more concessions and a stronger commitment to customer service.

Among the new additions to restaurants are Camden Food Co., EcoGrounds, The Gateway Bar and Old Soul Co. New retail additions will include Brookstone, Lacoste, Vino Volo and more.

SMF hosts 11 major air carriers and 158 flights daily. The total cost of construction will be more than $1 billion and the terminal’s total size will measure 670,000 square feet. The airport will also feature new trains between terminals, more gates and more efficient checkpoints.

The airport will also incorporate an environmentally-friendly program and install specialized glass throughout the airport that minimizes heat gain and decreases the demand for air conditioning. Bathrooms will also be installed with low-flush fixtures, and the airport will implement a new recycling program.
