Gunnison-Crested Butte will welcome the holiday season with a variety of festive November events. First Friday Gallery Crawl and Music starts on Nov. 4 with great art, refreshments and on-site artists from 5-7 p.m. Fantasy of Fashion offers an elegant evening of food, entertainment and gift tables at the Fred R. Field Western Heritage Center. Unique handmade gifts can be found at the 37th Annual Sugar Plum Festival on Nov. 19th, featuring approximately 75 booths, carols, and even a visit from Santa Claus.

Crested Butte is also getting into the winter spirit with special deals for visitors. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is celebrating its 50th birthday with a free lift ticket valid on Nov. 23, opening day of the 2011-2012 season. The resort will also offer a free lift ticket for “your” birthday, valid throughout the winter season. The Crested Butte Nordic Council’s annual Thanksgiving Training Camp will take place from Nov. 24-26, with cross-country ski clinics and activities for all experience levels. Costs range from $40 for beginner clinics to $50 for intermediate and advanced clinics.

Promotions also include the chance to win a free trip for two to the Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley, including airline tickets, three nights lodging and two lift tickets. Special early-season deals are also available for those who make their reservations early.
