This summer, Telluride, Colo., will host a “Summer of Love,” as many of its well-known festivals celebrate notable anniversaries.

One highlight of the 2013 summer festival season is the 100th anniversary of Telluride’s Historic Sheridan Opera House. In celebration of the centennial, the Opera House will serve as a screening venue for Mountainfilm and the Telluride Film Festival, as well as host an after-hours lineup during the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. In addition, the Sheridan Opera House will host a Speakeasy Gala on July 6.

The Telluride Film Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary, will take place Aug. 29 – Sept. 2. Though the festival does not announce its program in advance, it is known for hosting the North American or global premiers of four of the past five Oscar best picture winners. The Telluride Bluegrass Festival will also celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, from June 21-24. Festival-goers will be treated to music from Mumford & Sons, Emmylou Harris, Dispatch, The String Cheese Incident, Feist and Yonder Mountain String Band, among others.

New to Telluride this year is the Telluride WOW Festival, a Work Out Weekend that will feature presenters, instructors and athletes holding fitness classes and interactive sessions on health, fitness, wellness, nutrition and medical trends from Sept. 19-22. Other notable summer festivities include the 30th Annual Balloon Festival on June 1-2, the 20th anniversary of the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival from Sept. 13-15 and the Telluride Chamber Music Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary from Aug. 8-18.
