The spirit of the West will be alive and kicking this July when Gunnison-Crested Butte celebrates the 108th Annual Cattlemen’s Days. The festival runs this year from July 5-13 and will feature three professional rodeos, horse and livestock shows, local team roping and barrel racing.
The marquee events are the professional cowboy and cowgirl rodeos famous for their thrills, spills and fun. Rodeos will be held at 7 p.m. on July 10-12. For the July 10 “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days will pledge a portion of the admissions to its local campaign to prevent, detect and treat breast cancer. A dance and auction will follow this rodeo at 9:30 p.m.
For more than a century, Cattlemen’s Days has grown from a yearly get-together of local cowboys and cowgirls to an event that attracts the world’s top rodeo competitors and showcases the best livestock from around the country. There will also be a parade, a carnival, horse racing, and a Kiwanis barbecue.
