4-D Theater Opening At Mauna Lani

The retail center anticipates a November opening

The Shops at Mauna Lani is adding Hawaii's first 4-D theater to its mix of offerings. Located on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii's Big Island, the retail center anticipates a November opening of the state-of-the-art attraction, dubbed the Great 4-D Movie Ride.

Described by a Shops at Mauna Lani spokesperson as "pure family engagement," the theater will present a variety of programs. Movies will rotate, with multiple features and shorts showing on any given day. Clients can go to the theater to see Hawaii films, educational films and 3-D and 4-D films that have been released nationwide.

The 24-seat theater will show 4-D features and simulated rides on a 19-foot-wide screen projected from twin high-definition digital projectors. The on-screen action will be synchronized with full-range-motion seats, a high-tech surround-sound system, and in-theater four-dimensional effects like blown air and sprayed water, resulting in what is billed as a "multi-sensory experience."
