Kaanapali Beach Hotel Honors Whales

Maui hotel package includes whale watching tour

Each winter dozens of humpback whales migrate to Hawaii's warm waters, and Kaanapali Beach Hotel is honoring their return with a package to help guests get up-close and personal with the largest creatures on the planet.

The west Maui property's four-night Whale Encounter package comes with use of a compact rental car, daily buffet breakfast for two, whale watching tour for two, a pair of admissions to the Maui Ocean Center, two bottles of water per day, two beach towels, picnic lunch in a keepsake backpack and a one-day rental of a beach umbrella and two chaise lounges.

The package, which can be booked through April 1, 2012, for travel through April 8, costs $1,388.

Calling itself Hawaii’s Most Hawaiian Hotel, the oceanfront 432-room Kaanapali Beach Hotel features such guest programs as a sunset hula show, nightly live Hawaiian entertainment, lau (leaf) printing, ukulele lessons, poi pounding, lei and ti leaf skirt making, hula classes and garden tours. Each visit also includes a welcome breakfast and farewell lei ceremony.
