A new shuttle service operated by Roberts Hawaii offers visitors to Kauai’s Poipu resort area an easy way to get to and from Lihue Airport. Called the Sunny Poipu Express Shuttle, the offering is a collaboration between Roberts Hawaii, Green Car Hawaii, Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club, Koa Kea Hotel and Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa.
The Sunny Poipu Express Shuttle is a reservation-based service, bookable online. Guests are greeted in person by a Roberts Hawaii representative at Lihue Airport, presented with a shell lei and provided luggage assistance. The shuttle stops at each of the resorts and once there, visitors can rent hybrid or electric cars by the hour or day through Green Car Hawaii.
In 2010, Grand Hyatt Kauai was the first resort in the state to partner with Green Car Hawaii to offer hybrid and electric vehicles on-demand. Since visitors typically use their cars only 30-40 percent of their stay, being able to rent a car by the hour or day streamlines usage and minimizes waste. Green Car now has rentals available at Koa Kea Resort and Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club, creating a green network for the resort destination.
