Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa at Ko Olina in West Oahu, will begin accepting reservations for hotel rooms and vacation packages on Aug. 2, 2010, through the Walt Disney Travel Company. The 21-acre property is scheduled to welcome its first guests on Aug. 29, 2011.
“The beginning of hotel and travel package reservations for Aulani is an exciting moment for us,” said Walt Disney Travel Company president Randy Garfield. “Construction of the resort is progressing well on Oahu, and we believe travel agents are going to be impressed at the scope of the stories and the fun that guests will be able to experience in Hawaii.”
Introductory room rates start at $399 per night. Clients can choose from a variety of room options, including ocean or garden views.
“Disney is a company with a renowned legacy for storytelling,” noted Garfield. “We were attracted to Hawaii not only because it is a wonderful family destination, but because of the rich heritage that exists in Hawaii's history, beauty and cultural diversity. These stories, told through Disney magic, will create an immersive family-fun experience unlike any other on the islands.”
The resort promises age-specific programming for ages 3-10, tweens, teens, adults and the entire family. Activities include pool parties with Disney characters, excursions into the rainforest and surf, and classes in preparing Hawaiian cuisine with local chefs.
Built adjacent to a lagoon and white-sand beach, the resort features 359 hotel rooms and 481 two-bedroom Disney Vacation Club villas. Rooms are housed in two 15-story towers with views of the ocean, mountains and grounds. On-site are two restaurants, a wedding lawn, conference center, spa center and water activities, including a feature pool, tube floating watercourse, wading pool, body slides, sunset-facing hot tubs, quiet adult pool, snorkel lagoon and conservation pool. In the signature kids' club – Aunty's Beach House – youngsters can explore Hawaiian culture through fun and games.
Aulani is located 17 miles from Honolulu International Airport and features access to a Ted Robinson-designed 18-hole championship golf course.
