Ke Kani O Ke Kai Summer Concerts
Building on the success of its annual Ke Kani O Ke Kai summer concert series, the Waikiki Aquarium will once again host five oceanside concerts featuring some of the islands’ top performers. This year’s concert series will highlight such beloved artists as The Brothers Cazimero and Willie K. and feature live entertainment on the lawn, food by various restaurant partners and fun for the entire family.
The 2009 Ke Kani O Ke Kai line-up will feature:
• Thursday, June 18 ~ The Brothers Cazimero
• Thursday, July 2 ~ Hoku Zuttermeister
• Thursday, July 16 ~ Kaumakaiwa Kanakaole
• Thursday, July 30 ~ Maunalua
• Thursday, August 13 ~ Willie K.
“Ke Kani O Ke Kai is a wonderful opportunity to visit our extraordinary and award-winning Aquarium, then settle on the Great Lawn to enjoy live entertainment and a beautiful sunset,” said Waikiki Aquarium director Andrew Rossiter. “Concert nights are truly special and unique, as each year kama’aina and visitors return to enjoy the experience of being at the Waikiki Aquarium under a starlit sky.
Aquarium doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. The evenings are scheduled to conclude at 8:30 p.m. Concert-goers may bring personal low-lying beach chairs, and are encouraged to arrive early for optimal seating on the lawn. Aquarium galleries and exhibits will remain open throughout the evening.
Funds raised through Ke Kani O Ke Kai will support a new Hawaiian Streams exhibit at the Waikiki Aquarium.
Each concert is priced at $25 for adults, $10 for children aged 7 to 12, and is free for children 6 and under. Special series pricing, including single admission to all five concerts, is available for $90 general admission. Food from restaurants such as Hula Grill Waikiki, Yama’s Fish Market and BluWater Grill will be sold separately at a nominal fee. Due to space limitations, only the first 550 reservations will be accepted.
