Expedia and Travelocity have added 300 properties from the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of hotel brands to their green hotel programs: Expedia’s Green Hotel Program and Travelocity’s Green Hotel Directory. Both programs offer consumers a selection of eco-friendly travel options. All 300 Hilton properties across the company’s 10 brands are operating under Lightstay, Hilton Worldwide’s proprietary sustainability measurement system, which measures energy, water usage, waste and carbon output at hotels globally. Additionally, LightStay analyzes performance across 200 operational practices, such as housekeeping, paper-product usage, food waste, chemical storage, air quality and transportation.

According to Hilton Worldwide, all of Hilton Worldwide’s more than 3,600 properties will use Lightstay by Dec. 31, 2011. This will make the company one of the first major multi-brand hospitality companies to make sustainability measurement a brand standard. (www.hiltonworldwide.com)
