The landmark Hotel Mar Monte, a renowned, 80-year-old oceanfront property in Santa Barbara, Calif., has recently become a member of the Hyatt family. The newly named Hyatt Santa Barbara has been undergoing extensive renovations to all guestrooms, meeting rooms and public spaces since February. The first phase of renovations, which included 92 guestrooms, as well as the lobby, landscaping and decor around the pool and deck area, was completed in time for the summer. The property will resume renovations in October, focusing on the remaining 79 guestrooms and all meeting and event space. Renovations are expected to be completed in 2012.

The new Hyatt Santa Barbara, which retains the hotel’s original Spanish Colonial architecture, will be home to 171 stylish guestrooms, each featuring ocean or mountain views, the Hyatt Grand Bed, a flat-screen, high definition television and an iHome Stereo with iPod docking stations. Hotel amenities and services include a heated outdoor pool and whirlpool, a fitness center, a spa, a business center and the Bistro 1111 restaurant. www.santabarbara.hyatt.com
