Sun Valley Artist Series celebrates its winter concert series with a collection of inspiring and world-renowned classical artists. The nonprofit corporation devotes itself to supporting the art of classical music for everyone. In addition to the music, Sun Valley Artists Series have planned pre-concert lectures that include the new Great Composers Lecture Series, all free to the general public.

Winter acts to come include Ben Hong, Italian Saxophone Quartet and St. Petersburg String Quartet. Ben Hong will perform with his cello after with many years with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and training several members for the cast of the film, “The Soloist.” March presents the Italian Saxophone Quartet. Formed in 1982, they have given more than 1,000 concerts together and received special recognition for their interpretations of contemporary music. The St. Petersburg String Quartet finishes up the season in April with their Grammy-nominated sounds that have brought the world leading string quartet much success.

A strong commitment to education has been made this year by Sun Valley Artist Series in the form of free concert admissions to selected students enrolled in the Sun Valley Summer Symphony School of Music and other interested music students studying privately throughout the valley. A scholarship program for young music students is in the works for future seasons.

These events are held in the evenings at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum, Idaho. Tickets are offered for the remaining three concerts as a package for $105, and can be purchased at Ketchum bookstores and online. Individual tickets are on hand for certain concerts and will be available one week before the event.
