Walt Disney Parks & Resorts recently announced the name of its new Hawaii resort and launched a Web site through which travel agents can stay connected to the resort’s development.

The resort will be called Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina. The 21-acre, oceanfront property will feature 360 guestrooms and 481 two-bedroom Disney Vacation Club villas when completed in 2011.

“We want this resort destination to reflect the vibrant culture that surrounds it. The name ‘Aulani’ expresses a connection to tradition and deep storytelling — and its roots are in this land right here,” said Joe Rohde, senior vice president, creative for Walt Disney Imagineering.

A new preview Web site about the resort has also been launched and is available to agents through DisneyTravelAgents.com. The site provides agents with updates and background information on the resort as well as details on some of the unique features under development, including conceptual art, descriptions of resort highlights, regularly updated resort information and photos of Aulani as it nears completion.
