Bruce Beckham, executive director and CEO of Tourism Cares, has announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2013. During Beckham’s 12 years of service, he has brought more than 3,500 tourism industry volunteers to more than 20 sites around the U.S. for restoration; created the first Global Outreach education and preservation program in Cusco, Peru; and has managed the distribution of more than $500,000 in scholarships to students of travel and tourism and more than $2 million in grants to tourism related sites.
“While I am looking forward to having more time to combine a working retirement with spending more time with my family and friends, I am committed to working with [chairman] Dan [Sullivan] and the board through the transition,” said Beckham.
